This is Bandon Beach-- just a
sample of how beautiful the Oregon coastline is! |
|
Here's a view of the cabins from across Croft
lake. At the time this picture was taken, Cooper and I were probably relaxing
on the deck swing. |
|
Cooper on the deck swing looking out onto the lake.
Every afternoon after swimming and playing fetch for a couple hours,
we would dry him off and he would immediately jump into the swing for
an afternoon nap. This dog knows how to live!
Behind the swing you can see the red and purple "Fun
Noodles". I would use these "noodles" to float on while
I was in the lake, and Cooper always seemed terribly concerned that
I was floating out in the lake. He would swim out to me with a very
worried look on his face, grab the end of one of the noodles, and drag
it back to shallow water. Then he'd come back for the other one (which
invariably would take me back to shore). We think he was trying to rescue
me somehow. <grin>

Cooper standing on the dock, waiting
for someone to throw the frisbee. |
|
This is when we had Cooper floating on the
lake on an inner tube. He sat there looking really arrogant staring down
his nose at the "peasants" pushing him around the lake. |
|
Another of his favorite pastimes-- the bumper
is definitely his favorite toy. |
|
I like this picture-- Cooper looks kind of
different here-- this was taken on one of our many, many hikes... |
|
... like the hike to Mud Lake,
which adjoins Croft Lake. |
|
Alternatively, it could have been
our hike to the beach across New River-- here I am with Cooper (I'm wearing
a wetsuit because we had to ford the river and we weren't sure how deep
it was going to be). Plus, it's always safer to wear a wetsuit when swimming
with dogs so you don't get all scratched up when they swim near you. |

New River and the foredune. |
|
My favorite picture of Cooper
on the beach. |
|
Sunset at the lake. One of the evenings we
were there we actually saw the full moon rise over the hills at dusk while
we were boating in the middle of the lake -- it was the only time I didn't
have my camera. Now the saying is "You'd better bring the camera --
you never know when the moon's going to rise"... |

Don and Cooper on a hike to Mud
Lake. |
|
Can someone please tell me how
to get him to do this at the dog show? |
|
Another of Coop's favorite pastimes--
playing with his floating ball in the water. He would jump on it, push it
underwater, then it would pop way up out of the water. |
|
The whole trip wasn't *all* for
Cooper - (Does this qualify Don for the G@H bad dad contest?) |
|
Cooper in another "I wish he would do
this at the show" stack. |
|
Can you see the raccoon? What's he doing out
during the day? |
|
Cooper and I on the hike to Mud Lake. Those
are *shadows* on my face, not Mud. |

A view of the lake and dock in fog. |
|
Cooper's finally asleep on the way home. The
whole time at the lake (10+ days), he didn't want to eat or sleep even though
he was so tired and wobbly sometimes on his feet because he was afraid to
miss something! Is that just like a kid or what?! |
